Class Levels and Descriptions
If you are not sure of your level or if a particular class is appropriate for you, please use the Contact page to discuss with Richard.
Beginners are welcome in any Level 1 or Level 1 & 2 class.
Level 1 For beginning students who are new to yoga or to the Iyengar method. We will focus on basic alignment and movement, gradually developing steadiness and openness throughout the body.
Level 2 For continuing students to enhance their basic practice. We will tackle more challenging standing poses, forward bends, and twists. We begin to work on inverted poses such as Salamba Sarvangasana (shoulder stand) creating a stable base which leads to a sense of lightness and ease.
Level 3 For students with strong standing poses who want to learn more inverted poses and intermediate backbends. We progress to Salamba Sirsasana (headstand) and continue to develop stability and ease in all the poses.
Level 4 For intermediate and advanced students who are ready for more challenging poses. We move from the outer to the inner body, as a sense of freedom develops in both body and mind.
